The Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria (MSSN),
Lagos State University (LASU) chapter, Ojo, last
week, discouraged the institution's Students' Union
to discontinue its preparation for planned annual
pageant show tagged: "Miss LASU 2012."

The Amir (President) of the group, at a meeting
recently held at the university's central mosque, said
he had called the union president, Durojaiye Akeem,
to stop the programme from taking place for both
moral and security reasons.
Reacting on the issue, the union's Social Director,
Jerry Kabiri, said the social event was a tradition of
the union "and it is organised to promote the cultural
values and traditions of the country and it is also
used to expose the intellectual endowment of the
university's students to the world."
Kabiri, therefore, explained that the Students' Union
had already signed a memorandum of understanding
with a company - Sulcata, to fix the date and design
of the interior decorations of the hall. The students'
union president also subscribed to this position.
