The International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Tuesday announced that it had received the files of five Candidate Cities bidding to host the 2018 Youth Olympic Games.

The global sports body, in a statement on its website said that all the five cities delivered their files by the deadline of Monday, Oct. 15.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the cities are: Buenos Aires in Argentina, Glasgow in Great Britain, Guadalajara in Mexico, Medellin in Colombia and Rotterdam in The Netherlands.

The statement said an IOC Working Group, chaired by IOC Executive Board member, Claudia Bokel, would later analyse the files.

``The group will then prepare a report for submission to the IOC Executive Board,’’ it said.

The statement added that the IOC Executive Board would later, on the basis of the report, decide which cities would be shortlisted for further evaluation.

NAN reports that this decision would be taken at its meeting in Lausanne on Feb. 12 and Feb. 13, 2013.

The statement also said that further assessment and video conferences with the shortlisted Candidate Cities would later follow.

Consequently, a report shall be submitted to the IOC members, who will then elect the host city at their meeting in Lausanne on July 4, 2013.
