 After rebranding as CHASE Awards, the organisers of the foremost awards which celebrate the upcoming artistes and people behind the music industry also made changes in the award category.

As usual, the award categories are divided into two; ‘Upcoming category’ and ‘General Category’ with the addition of new categories under the two main categories.

Graphic Designer Of The Year, Fashion House Of The Year and International Artiste Of The Year of the year categories were introduced under the General category, while the upcoming category saw the inclusion of ‘Best New Actor Male and Best New Act Female.

UPCOMING/RISING ARTISTES CATEGORY:

1.             ARTISTE OF THE YEAR (Male)

This is a category for the most critical and commercial male upcoming artiste in the year under review, overall most successful upcoming artiste for the year under review (April 2012-April 2013). This category will be decided by 70% votes of listeners and 30% votes by the Jury.

 2.             ARTISTE OF THE YEAR (Female)

This is a category for the most critical and commercial female upcoming artiste in the year under review, overall most successful upcoming artiste for the year under review (April 2012-April 2013). This category will be decided by 70% votes of listeners and 30% votes by the Jury.

 3.             SONG OF THE YEAR (Male / Female)

This category is for the most popular song of an upcoming artiste from his/her album/promo CDs in the year under review (April 2012-April 2013). This category will be decided by 70% votes of listeners and 30% votes by the Jury.

4.             PRODUCER OF THE YEAR

This is the category for the upcoming producer responsible for producing the most acclaimed songs/album in the year under review (April 2012-April 2013), it could be a known/upcoming artiste. This category will be decided by 70% votes of listeners and 30% votes by the Jury.

 5.             BEST MUSIC VIDEO (DIRECTOR)

This category is for the best conceptualized, best edited, best picture, best directed and most exciting video in the year under review (April 2012-April 2013). This award goes to the director of a music video for an artiste. This category will be decided by 70% votes of listeners and 30% votes by the Jury.

 6.             BEST MALE R&B/POP ARTIST

This is a category for the best R&B/POP single by a female upcoming artiste in the year under review (April 2012-April 2013), done by single individual or group artistes. This category will be decided by 70% votes of listeners and 30% votes by the Jury.

 7.             BEST FEMALE R&B/POP ARTIST

This is a category for the best R&B/POP single by female upcoming artiste in the year under review (April 2012-April 2013), done by single individual or group artistes. This category will be decided by 70% votes of listeners and 30% votes by the Jury.

 8.             BEST MALE HIP HOP ARTIST

This is the category for the best Rap single by a male upcoming artiste released within the year under review (April 2012-April 2013). This category will be decided by 70% votes of listeners and 30% votes by the Jury.

 9.             BEST FEMALE HIP HOP ARTIST

This is the category for the best Rap single by a female upcoming artiste released within the year under review (April 2012-April 2013). This category will be decided by 70% votes of listeners and 30% votes by the Jury.

 11.          BEST COLLABORATION (Male / Female)

This category is for the best R&B, Pop or hip hop collaborative track by an upcoming artiste that features known acts or new acts, and was released within the year under review (April 2012-April 2013). This category will be decided by 70% vote of listeners and 30% votes by the Jury.

 11.          BEST NEW ACTOR

This is a category for the most consistent new actor in Nollywood Movies in the year under review, overall most successful new actor for the year under review (April 2012-April 2013). This category will be decided by 70% votes of viewers and 30% votes by the Jury.

 12.          BEST NEW ACTRESS

This is a category for the most consistent new actress in Nollywood Movies in the year under review, overall most successful new actor for the year under review (April 2012-April 2013). This category will be decided by 70% votes of viewers and 30% votes by the Jury.

 13.          BEST COMEDIAN OF THE YEAR (Male / Female)

This is an award for the most hilarious fast rising comedian in the year under review (April 2012-April 2013). This category will be decided by 70% vote of listeners and 30% votes of the Jury.

GENERAL CATEGORY:

 This category is to recognize the hard work of Nigerians that has contributed to the growth of the entertainment industry. Also, to recognize some of our top artistes that has impressed with their music and lyrics.

 1.             BEST YOUTH MAGAZINE OF THE YEAR

This category is to recognize the magazine that has been of great support to the youth in one way or the other. This category would be decided by voting.

 2.             ENTERTAINMENT BLOG OF THE YEAR.

This category is for websites that promotes event, music and latest gist in the entertainment industry. This category would be decided by voting.

 4.             BEST ADVERT OF THE YEAR.

The most exciting and educating advert on TV that draws the attention of youth the most. It could be any advert of any kind, the most important thing is getting the message it brings.

 5.             ONLINE MUSIC CHANNEL OF THE YEAR.

This is an award for the best brand that updates new songs on it website and also supports the youth movement.

6.             ON-AIR MUSIC CHANNEL OF THE YEAR.

This is an award for the TV program which promotes Nigerian music on it.

 7.             TV STATION OF THE YEAR.

This is an award of recognition for television station with more youth programs and entertainment programs on it station and also support youth movement.

 8.             RADIO STATION OF THE YEAR

This is an award of recognition for radio station with more youth and entertainment programs on its station and also supports youth movement.

 9.             INTERNATIONAL ARTISTE OF THE YEAR

This category is set to recognize Nigerian artistes abroad doing well with their music, gaining recognition Home & Abroad.

10.          BEST COLLABO OF THE YEAR (Male / Female)

This category is to recognize the best collaboration in terms of song that consists of at least 3 or more top artistes coming together on one track. The song must be released within the year under review (April 2012-April 2013). This category will be decided 70% vote of listeners and 30% by the Jury.

11.          FASHION HOUSE OF THE YEAR

This category is for the fashion entity that has given fashion a new and different meaning in terms of Style, Taste and Culture, and has also been able to give Nigerian Fashion a greater Perception Internationally. This category will be decided by voting.

12.          GRAPHIC DESIGNER OF THE YEAR

This award category is for youth with great skill of designing with much creativity, colour usage and concept of designs. This category will be decided 70% vote and 30% by the Jury.

12.          RADIO PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR (Male)

This is a category for male radio personality that has helped in promoting Nigerian music and artistes, and has also been versatile on the radio. This category would be decided by voting.

13.          RADIO PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR (Female)

This is a category for female radio personality that has helped in promoting Nigerian music and artistes, and has also been versatile on the radio. This category would be decided by voting.

14.          TV PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR (Male)

This is a category for male TV personality that has helped in promoting Nigerian music and artistes, and has also been versatile on television. This category would be decided by voting.

 15.          TV PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR (Female)

This is a category for female TV personality that has helped in promoting Nigerian music and artistes, and has also been versatile on television. This category would be decided by voting.

 16.          BEST RADIO DJ OF THE YEAR (Male / Female)

This is an award category for the appreciation of Disk Jockeys (DJ) on the radio for their support towards the growth of Nigerian music industry and entertainment at large. This category would be decided by voting.

 17.          BEST CLUB DJ OF THE YEAR (Male /Female)

This is an award category for the appreciation of Disk Jockeys (DJ) playing in clubs, producing mix-tapes, for their effort in promoting the Nigerian music industry and entertainment at large. This category would be decided by voting.

 18.          EVENT CENTRE/LOUNGING SPOT OF THE YEAR.

This category is for best hang out spot by youth where most club parties or related parties are been held, it could be hall, club or bar. This category would be decided by voting.

 19.          AWARD FOR LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT

This is a category for an Individual who has been in the entertainment industry for a very long time and has over the years been able to make an impact one way or the other in the industry.
